LAKE TAHOE – Revisiting this gem of California
The first time I went to Lake Tahoe in California was back in 2000 for a family reunion when I was 8 years old. I remember having a blast with my family, but at that young of an age, I didn’t necessarily take in all the sights.
So last year, in late December 2018, I was STOKED to revisit Lake Tahoe with my boyfriend and my sister. My sister, Courtney, has friends that bought a BEAUTIFUL house in Lake Tahoe and allowed us to stay with them! THANK YOU so much if you are reading this! We had an amazing time! ☺️🙏🏼
“TAKE NOTHING BUT PICTURES.
LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS.
KILL NOTHING BUT TIME.”
A lot of people move there because of snowboarding, a sport that neither Ponyboy and I have really tried yet. When we told people there we hadn’t, they looked at us jaws dropping, eyes wide in disbelief – telling us we have to get out on the mountain ASAP!
These were people that lived for snowboarding, that moved specifically to Lake Tahoe to be a part of the snowboarding community, so it makes sense that they would be shocked we had never done it. It would be if someone had never tried your favorite food or something – you immediately want to have them eat it!
I’m sure we will try it someday, when we have a little more money to adventure with – but for now, we did our usual plan of finding free hikes and beautiful places to visit.
And booooooy, Lake Tahoe has some insanely beautiful views and hikes! Unfortunately, I didn’t take notes on where these are, but all my pictures say ‘South Lake Tahoe’ – so that’s where we were. 😛
Here was a lovely walk we took somewhere in Lake Tahoe! Possibly close to the stateline of Nevada and California, because my phone says ‘Stateline’ above the pictures 🙂
EMERALD BAY STATE PARK
Below are pictures of the mesmerizing views at Inspiration Point, part of Emerald Bay State Park. And the pictures are worth more words than I could ever explain. Just take in those vyooooooz.
This could have been from the same hike or from a different one, but my photos say Georgetown at the top. We decided to chill at this spot for a bit. As you can probably understand. SO GORGEOUS!!!
We walked around The Shops at Heavenly Village and got to see these cool ski lift things!
And then finally, we got to see an AMAZING sunset over the lake one of our last days. One of those where it keeps changing colors the whole time. Magical ✨
If you’re on a California road trip – Lake Tahoe would be an amazing spot to visit any time of the year!
Happy travels! ✌
